Textile Testing & analysis

final portfolio project:
tiny grunge

Textile Testing and Analysis taught me how to test and analyze the performance of textile products using standardized test methods and industry specifications. Throughout the semester, we utilized various test methods for our Comparison Project and Piece Goods Project to identify quality and performance characteristics of sewn projects. The Comparison Project allowed us to compare the quality and performance of various t-shirt brands across control and worn garments and the Piece Goods Project allowed us to do the same for different types of fabric swatches. The Final Portfolio Project assisted in combining the knowledge I'd learned throughout the semester of textiles and testing techniques and applying it to creating a collection of children's winter clothing. Inspired by my hometown of Marin County, CA, I created the brand, Tiny Grunge, complete with an assortment of puffer jackets, overalls, henley long sleeve t-shirts, hoodies, and onesie pajamas. Each garment page includes a name inspired by places in Northern California, flat drawings, fabric content, special considerations, and testing techniques.
