Fashion Drawing Fundamentals taught me how to draw flat sketches and fashion figures freehand on various croquis with specific design features, such as stitches and buttons. From the development of illustration skills throughout the semester, I was able to produce technical flats of garments and explore color theory and design elements. For my Final Project, I designed a clothing line of six garments for the Fall 2020/2021 season utilizing WGSN as inspiration for color and style trends. With my recently gained skills of flat sketching and fashion figure drawing developed over the course of the semester, I was successful in creating a board displaying my designs including front and back flat sketches, fashion figure drawings, fabric swatches, a target customer review, and a mood board. This course helped me to understand garment components, proper placement of notions and findings, and proportions on figures. Understanding the foundations of garment design is essential in all areas of the fashion industry.
